About nanozoo

Here at nanozoo, we aim to shed light on the microbial world's beauty. There are more microbes on earth than stars in the universe. Their vast diversity is staggering, and we are only beginning to understand their impact and potential. Microbes impact our environment, food, health, and even our behavior. They have the potential to produce innumerable compounds, whether in our gut or the deepest sea, and which could even help solve the current climate crisis. Many of these insights are right in front of us, buried in large data sets.

We create value by removing barriers to insight, both in cost and time. Our customers ask creative questions about the microbial world, and nanozoo answers them. Our customers do not have to worry about how to implement their questions and execute the analysis.

nanozoo implements end-to-end workflows that automate data-intensive biology from sample to report. Instead of cultures and a microscope, we look at the microbial world through data and code. Behind the scenes, many algorithms work in concert to achieve this, including proprietary methods using artificial intelligence. We also go to great lengths to curate databases of microbial genomes and their phenotypes, spanning hundreds of thousands of records. Nevertheless, data and code are only valuable if one knows where to direct them. We, therefore, provide expert knowledge on a wide range of viruses, bacteria and archaea, fungi, protists, helminths, and parasites.
